2013 bright as festive sales grow at Sarah Layton

Pandora bestseller over festive period and local collaboration a hit.

Christmas sales at Lancashire jewellery retailer Sarah Layton were up 2011 with Pandora proving most popular with its shoppers.

Sarah Layton co-founder Gill Layton-Hill described the company as being “very pleased with our Christmas trading”.

Pandora was the most popular jewellery item over the festive period with the brand bringing in an average transaction value of £75 per customer.

Sarah Layton sent out direct mail shots to its customers in the run up to Christmas, advertising both the bricks-and-mortar store as well as its online shop. It also teamed with other retailers in the village of Whalley to position the town as a destination shopping location, a move that Layton-Hill said proved to be “very successful”.

The retailer held off discounting before Christmas but did take part in the first ever Pandora sale, which incidentally was the first sale that Sarah Layton has ever run. Layton-Hill added: “Customers don’t like to see sales or discounts before Christmas. In fact the Pandora sale, which we had to participate in, is the first one we have ever done. It has worked because it is structured.”

Looking forward to trading in 2013 Layton-Hill said that she is feeling “very optimistic”.
