Designers creates most expensive piece to date for mystery star.
Ana de Costa has designed what will be her most expensive piece to date to be worn at the Oscars in Hollywood.
The pair of earrings feature two ethical Zambian emeralds with a combined weight of 19.96ct, decorated with a smattering of natural cognac diamonds. The earrings have an estimated retail price of US$120,000 (£74,000).
The design of the earrings, which have been created in collaboration with ethical emerald comapny Gemfields, is inspired by a quote by Mahatma Gandhi that reads "we must be the change we wish to see". A percentage of the sale price of the earrings will be donated to Gemfields’ charity projects.
De Costa has not revealed who she will ask to wear the earrings on the red carpet at the Oscars but has said that she is in talks with a couple of stylists for US stars.
The London-based jeweller has build up a following in the US and has said that she plays on her Britishness to build her brands in the States. She has also won a number of celebrity clients across the pond including Lindsay Lohan, Angelina Jolie and Rhianna.
