Lynn Rodgers, Pip Portley, Lucy Q and Ikimotu design commercial lines.
Argos has unveiled four new designer collections, set to go live on sale this Saturday, from British jewellers Lynn Rodgers, Pip Portley, Lucy Q and Ikimotu.
The collections were previewed today at the Argos Christmas press day in London. They will be officially launched in the retailer’s new autumn/winter catalogue this weekend, going live online and available to order at stores across the UK.
Argos jewellery buying manager Alice Rigby told Professional Jeweller that it was the first year that Argos had worked with four rather than three designers, having launched its designer initiative three years ago with the British Jewellers’ Association to help raise the profile of designer jewellery brands.
The jewellery collections are designed exclusively with Argos with price points between £30 and £60 to fit the with Argos customer profile. The manufacturing is overseen by the designers themselves.
This year’s collections include amethyst and chalcedony bracelets and earrings by Lynn Rodgers, gold plated gemstone jewellery from Pip Portley, a line based on Lucy Q‘s bestselling Drip collection and delicate butterfly and bird pendants from Ikimotu.
It is also the first year that the designer collections have been crafted in silver, rather than steel or base metal as has been typical of previous collections.
Last year’s designers included Allumer, Jian Designs and Burkmar Jewellery. Argos has also been working with Sheffield jeweller Jessica Flinn for a number of seasons. She is set to continue creating designs for Argos, with Rigby describing Flinn’s collections as exciting for the Argos customer.
Rigby said that Argos sources designers through trade shows such as IJL and that the work with the BJA has helped to boost its contact with the wider jewellery industry.
