Oris has launched a timepiece dedicated to musical legend Chet Baker at a jazz-themed event at London’s famous nightclub Ronnie Scott's.

A jazz band played on the night and Baker's widow Carol Baker, along with thier son, were present at the launch. Carol Baker spoke to guests alongside Rolf Studer of Oris about Baker and the timepiece.

The limited edition 40mm timepiece is a tribute to the legendary trumpeter and singer. It has a stainless steel case with an engraved case back featuring a silhouette of Baker with his trumpet. The watches are limited number, 1,929 reflects the year of his birth.

The dial continues the musical theme with the hour indexes representing bars from the song My Funny Valentine which Baker made famous for.

The 12 o’clock position features clef, while the double bar line at 8 o’clock represents the first eight bars of the song which have to be repeated.

The watch has an Oris automatic movement, date and is water resistant to 30m. It is presented in a box with a mechanically driven metronome as a final flourish to its musical inspiration.
