Police said the robberies on delivery vans that sparked the suspension had mostly happened in 2009 with a single incident in 2010.
West Midlands Police have been reassuring worried residents of Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter after FedEx suspended deliveries to the area amid security fears.
Chief inspector Darren Miles said: "While one offence is one too many, the reality is that the Jewellery Quarter is safe and will continue to be so.”
Miles said that the robberies on delivery vans that sparked the Jewellery Quarter suspension had all happened in 2009. He said: "We are aware that a courier temporarily suspended deliveries to the Jewellery Quarter following three robberies last year and a fourth in another area of the city in March.”
The chief inspector added that West Midlands Police had been taking action to ensure that the Jewellery Quarter was a safe area of the city. "We have worked hard over the past few years to ensure the safety of those who live, work and shop in the area to great effect," he said.
