Kevin Jones hired to boost Swiss brand’s position in the UK market.

Artime Limited, the UK distributor of Swiss jewellery brand Step Jewellery, has hired its first ever agent as it seeks to increase the brand’s position in the UK market.

Kevin Jones has been appointed by the company to act as sole UK agent for Step Jewellery. He will also act as the sole agent for a.b.art watches.

Artime says it has hired Jones to help take Step Jewellery from a niche brand in the UK to a more widely distributed product line. The brand launched in the UK in 2009 under Artime and has to date won itself a group of devoted retail stockists that the company hopes to build upon.

Artime managing director David Shoesmith said: “This is a tremendous opportunity for both our brands, and with Kevin’s expertise and experience, together with his great enthusiasm, we are confident we are entering a new era for a.b.art and Step. This is just the boost we need to bring them to the notice of major players, and just what the sector needs to recognise really stylish and unique pieces.”

Jones has more than 30 years’ experience in the jewellery and watch industries having worked for the likes of I.C.E Diamonds, Seiko, Rotary, Zeon, Goldsmiths and acting as a Yorkshire committee member of the National Association of Goldsmiths.

He began his career with retail chain Goldsmiths, becoming its youngest store manager. He has also run his own shop in his home town of Brighouse, West Yorkshire.

Jones said of his new role: “This is just the type of challenge I relish. These brands are superb and more within the trade need to take note and recognise their potential. We all need something different in the difficult days and this could just be the stimulus shops are looking for. I will be knocking on their door soon."
