Police are now chasing the trio and have since found the Vauxhall Astra that the gang used to escape the scene. The car had been stolen and fitted with false registration plates.

This is the second time that Mirpur Jewellers has been targeted by thieves in a year. On January 26 the shop was attacked by a gang wearing balaclavas and brandishing sledgehammers, which escaped with gold worth several thousands of pounds.

Calderdale CID are working on the case and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward. They can be contacted on 01422 337085 or 101, or information can be given through Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
