Platform will allow companies to sell excess jewellery & watch stock.
Watch and jewellery brands and retailers will be able to sell excess stock through Asos later this year.
The online fashion giant has confirmed the launch of a virtual marketplace that will allow consumers and small businesses to sell fashion products in a similar set-up to eBay and Amazon. Asos has told Professional Jeweller that as well as fashion, the marketplace will also facilitate the sale of watches and jewellery.
Asos chief executive Nick Robertson said: “This is an exciting extension to Asos’s existing customer offer which makes perfect sense in today’s market. This is a sellers’ platform. We will start simply and continually improve the platform over time. Our sellers will shape its future.
“With this initiative, we are able to offer both individual and corporate customers an additional channel to sell their fashion merchandise in an environment, and in front of a customer, that is all about fashion.”
Consumers will also be able to sell goods through the channel and Asos will offer them advice on how best to maximise sales potential.
