Smaller sub-office marks almost 1,000,000 articles since 2006 opening.

The Assay Office London is celebrating five years of its Hatton Garden sub-office with a day of “special treats” lined up next week.

December marks the fifth anniversary of the Greville Street Assay Office, the first off-site hallmarking facility for the Goldsmiths’ Company and Assay Office London.

It was opened in 2006 as a “local convenient service for the Hatton Garden community”, and has marked almost 1,000,000 articles since then. It also specialises in hallmarking smaller quantities of jewellery, allowing for faster turnaround times.

Andy Waker, manager of the Greville Street Assay Office said: “Since opening five years ago we have seen a continuous increase in customers and yet we still manage to maintain our fast turnaround ethos.

“I’ve spent over 30 years working for the Goldsmiths’ Company and it’s only since becoming manager at Greville Street that I have realised what a close knit and friendly community Hatton Garden is and it really is a pleasure to work in such an environment. On behalf of myself and my team, I would like to thank all the customers who support this office and have helped make it what it is today.”

The sub-office will host its official celebrations on Wednesday December 14. Any customers using the office between 11.00am and 3.00pm on the day will be able to chat with Waker and his team and enjoy some special treats.
