Luxury Egyptian jewellery house Azza Fahmy Jewellery has expanded its popular Wonders of Nature collection with the introduction of 15 new handcrafted pieces.
Launching in store this month, new designs explore the darker side of nature, capturing its diversity and the perfections with the imperfections.
For the new pieces, head of design, Amina Ghali, embraces the an ubiquitous serpent motif – the most widespread mythological symbol and a great icon of jewellery design – and sensitively re-defines it to form an appealing, hypnotic central theme.
Other motifs within the range include butterflies, ladybirds, bumble bees and birds such as the hoopoe, the Indian peacock and the owl, together with flowers.
From a dynamic and transcultural collection of innovatively designed earrings that coil and dazzle to striking necklaces in matt and polished finishes Azza Fahmy Jewellery plays with both sterling silver and 18ct gold – often layering the metals to an eye-catching effect.
The use of exclusively carved stones provide further vibrancy to the range, with gems including cabochon style faceted green and purple amethyst, brilliant white, champagne and black diamonds, emeralds, rubies and sapphires together with rose and white freshwater pearls.
Head of design, Amina Ghali, explains: “We’ve continued to interpret the perfections within the imperfections of nature as we evolved the 2017 collection. A symbol of love, fertility, wisdom and protective properties, we have sensitively re-defined the serpent motif sensitively emulating elements of its body detail to create a sleek, non-intimidating, chic appeal.
“Borrowing from tableau art style composition for the design of the Hoopoe Cuff we were keen to capture the inspiring, unexpected harmonious relationship of wildlife reminiscent of the Jungle Book’ story together with nature’s floral landscape.”
Within the collection the design house has also launched Wonders of Nature ‘Classics’ where Victoriana meets Egypt in a selection of timeless jewels.
