Atelier Swarovski has announced its first collaboration with the EE British Academy Film Awards as official jewellery partner and gift provider for the annual BAFTA ceremony.
Since launching in Autumn/Winter 2007, Atelier Swarovski has collaborated with some of the world’s leading designers across creative disciplines, including fashion, jewellery, architecture and design, working with talents including Maison Margiela, Karl Lagerfeld, Zaha Hadid and 2016 BAFTA Nominee Sandy Powell.
Ever since the emergence of the silver screen, Swarovski crystals have played a supporting role in some of cinema’s most memorable moments and illuminated its most iconic stars, from Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s to Lily James in Cinderella, for which Sandy Powell received a nomination for her costume designs.
Powell used over 1.7 million crystals on the costumes of Cinderella and worked with Swarovski’s technical teams to develop her vision for Cinderella’s slippers, which were crafted from solid crystal and featured the company’s famed Aurora Borealis effect.
Nadja Swarovski, member of the Swarovski executive board, comments: “Swarovski has provided on-screen glamour for 85 years, so we are delighted that Atelier Swarovski will be EE British Academy Film Awards’ Official Jewellery Partner at this year’s awards.
“We have collaborated with BAFTA since 2008 and their work to support and develop talent makes them a natural partner for Swarovski. We are thrilled about our partnership and look forward to some exciting moments in film history.”
The EE British Academy Film Awards is set to take place on February 14 2016 at The Royal Opera House in London’s Covent Garden.
