Assay Office supports awards with spotlight on costume jewellery.
The Birmingham Assay Office (BAO) is set to sponsor the Gift of the Year Awards 2013, specifically supporting the Fashion Jewellery & Accessories category as it continues to focus on the evolution of non-precious and costume jewellery brands in the UK.
The Assay office said that was “extremely proud” to be sponsoring the awards, which celebrate original and innovatively designed products across a number of categories including jewellery, men’s gifts, homeware, stationary and children’s gifts.
The BAO has placed emphasis on the testing of costume and fashion jewellery over the past 12 months, as the sector continues to grow in the jewellery marketplace. It announced in January last year that it had expanded its nickel testing facilities amid increasingly demanding legislation for jewellers selling costume jewellery and accessories.
The Gift of the Year 2013 awards were launched at Autumn Fair International last year. Shortlisted products include jewellery by Antonio Ben Chimol and myStyle Pick’n’Mix jewellery by Interplay UK.
A second round judging will take place at The Giftware Association’s HQ in Birmingham this week. The finalists will be displayed in The Giftware Association’s Gift of the Year Showhouse at Spring Fair next month.
