Basel boosts overseas interest in Alfred Terry

New collection attracts customers in South Africa and Germany.

Alfred Terry has reported an enthusiastic reception at BaselWorld following its debut appearance at the Swiss jewellery show alongside its luxe jewellery offer Leading Italian Jewels.

The company’s chief executive Steve Wright said the fine jewellery brand’s new Abbeycrest-made collection was "very well received".

Wright said: "[There was] particular enthusiasm coming from new customers in South Africa, Germany and Central Eastern Europe as well as our strong UK retail base.

"We are now looking forward to developing our businesses internationally on top of our successful domestic business during the upcoming exhibitions in Vicenza and Hong Kong."

Alfred Terry also showcased its Italian jewellery brands at the show, placing them on a separate stand to its mainline Alfred Terry and Abbeycrest lines.

Wright added: "We were thrilled with how Leading Italian Jewels was received at Baselworld 2013, with more than double the number of sales than at last year’s show.

"The new designs from Stefan Hafner and Nouvelle Bague made a tremendous impact, with interest from clients worldwide, including from Russia, the Far East and the United States."
