BaselWorld organisers upbeat before show

More than 100,000 buyers from 100 countries visited Switzerland to attend BaselWorld 2010.

Directors say show will herald a phase of recovery for the industry.

The organisers of BaselWorld have said they are expecting “positive signs” when the Swiss watch and jewellery show opens its doors tomorrow.

The show will house 1,915 exhibitors and is expecting a turnout of nearly 100,000 buyers from around the globe.

In a statement, BaselWorld’s show directors said: “After challenging times, the event should decisively herald a phase of recovery or upturn for manufacturers and the trade.”
