Jewellery show said to be influencing wider lifestyle sectors.
The jewellery and watch industries are said to be in an optimistic position, according to BaselWorld exhibitors’ committee president Jacques J. Duchene.
It is anticipated that more than 100,000 visitors will attend Swiss show in the coming days, with Duchene stating that those brands and designers taking part in the show were optimistic with regard to the future of the sector. He said: "We are generally in a good position as an industry and have the forward-looking markets clearly in our sights, and what’s more nowhere else in the world will you find the most important watch brands, jewellery and precious stones under one roof."
More than 3,500 journalists from across the world are expected to attend this year’s event, at which more than 1,400 exhibitors are taking part. The show has also been described as influencing the wider lifestyle sector, with the show describing the jewellery and watch industries as an increasingly important barometer for the lifestyle sector and wider trends.
A statement from the show said: "Even fashion designers, industry designers and marketing experts from a highly diverse range of industries are increasingly finding inspiration at this superlative event. The pavilions and presentations are often designed and staged by world-famous architects. Celebrities from all over the world stroll through the exhibition’s over 30 kilometres of extensive walkways".
