A battered Bernie Ecclestone has teamed up with Hublot to use his mugging as a sales opportunity.

The luxury watch brand will be running an ad in the Financial Times and The International Herald Tribune featuring an untouched photograph of the Formula One boss following an attack in London that left him with a head injury.

The robbers, who attacked Ecclestone and his girlfriend Favia Flosi outside the F1 headquarters in London, stole his personalised Hublot Formula One watch worth £200,000 and jewellery from Flosi.

Hublot said that Ecclestone, who was admitted to hospital following the attack, sent a picture of himself along with a short note to Hublot boss Jean-Claude Biver the same day. The watch brand said that the pair have a similar sense of humour and decided to use the picture to make an advert with the tag line “See what people will do for a Hublot”.
