Belfast jeweller Peter Lunn has been awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honour list for service to commerce, charity and sport in Northern Ireland.
Peter Lunn is the executive chairman of Lunn’s Jewellers which was founded by his father in 1954. He is also a founding member and retired director of Houlden Jewellers Ltd, and a director of Sharman D Neill.
Lunn is a past president of the Belfast Chamber of Trade and Commerce and chaired the steering group which led to the setup of Belfast City Centre Management.
From 2006 to 2012 Lunn served as a founder Board Member of SOS Bus; a Northern Ireland based charity which helps vulnerable people in Belfast and provides education for the disadvantaged. He is also a board member of Giving Northern Ireland.
In 1985 Lunn was appointed a Trustee of Irish League Football Club Linfield and fulfils this role to date. In 1989 he was elected vice chairman serving in this capacity until May 2007, when he was elected as president of the football club.
Lunn comments: “I am incredibly surprised and honoured to have been named on the list and was delighted to receive the news. I look forward to a special day at Buckingham Palace with my family”.
