Luxury American department store Bergdorf Goodman has announced plans to partner with mining company Gemfields to produce a range of ruby and emerald jewellery.
The range of one-of-a-kind and limited edition jewels will be created by some of the world’s most famous designers and brands, including David Webb, G London, Nikos Koulis, Pomellato, Stephen Webster, Sydney Evan, Yeprem and more.
The collaboration has been organised to celebrate the launch of Bergdorf Goodman’s new Jewellery Salon and highlight the use of Gemfields’ Mozambican rubies and Zambian emeralds.
The Jewellery Salon, which is set to open in mid-November, will include a detailed Viewing Room to provide a more intimate space for shoppers.
According to an official press release: “Known for fostering talent and championing creativity within the jewellery industry, Gemfields is giving designers unprecedented access to its gemstones, enabling them to create a bracelet, ring, necklace, earrings or jewellery suite of their choice.”
Elizabeth von der Goltz of Bergdorf Goodman comments: “The participating designers were thrilled to work with Gemfields, after seeing the incredible quality of their coloured gemstones. The jewellery will undoubtedly be spectacular and this collaboration is the perfect way to launch our newly renovated jewellery salon. We plan to transform the 57th Street entrance into a grand gateway, further enhancing the world of jewellery at Bergdorf Goodman.”
Ian Harebottle, CEO of Gemfields, states, “Bergdorf Goodman is one of the most important jewellery retailers in the world, and the new salon is the ideal platform to showcase our incredible new Mozambican rubies as well as our vibrant Zambian emeralds in truly extraordinary designs.”
