Bijou owner David Robertson said: “Winning the award is a culmination of many years of hard work by my mother who started the jewellery side of the business from scratch.

"The Bijou jewellery department has been specifically designed as a contemporary jeweller with a huge diversity of both price and product. The award is, of course, a validation of all this hard work but the real secret to it all is my mother’s drive to constantly find and source new products.”

The store sells brands including Couer de Lion, Pilgrim, Claudia Bradby, Joma, It Diamonds and Kleshna.

Robertson added: "Going forward, the award will allow us to promote the business further and attract even more brands to come on board and support us.”

The store underwent a major expansion in 2012, having opened in 2010. Alongside selling jewellery and gifts it runs an in-house cafe.
