BJA gives IJL newbies a Kickstart

Visitors flock to intriguing display of contemporary jewellery.

One of the busiest stands at IJL has been the Kickstart stand run by the British Jewellers’ Association.

The Kickstart scheme is designed to help give designers yet to show at IJL on their own the confidence to do so by allowing them to show their wares on a joint stand. The costs are lower, making it more affordable, and the platform gives the designers a level of exposure that they might not gain on their own.

This year the designers and brand taking part in the scheme are Day C, Momocreatura, Daisy Knights, Jessica De Lotz, Akong London, Poly Philippou, Saretta, Christopher Anderson Design, Hannah Bedford and Sian Bostwick Jewellery.

Daisy Knights, who has shown her work at IJL once before as a Bright Young Gem, said that the Kickstart stand has given her the confidence to come back next year as a fully fledged exhibitor.

Knights said: “I am definitely going to come back next year, even if it is a tiny stand. It is great to have a presence here. Having been a Bright Young Gem and now part of Kickstart I am now ready for my own stand as it’s not so scary and I know lots of buyers now.”
