Boticca has been named a finalist in the Retail Hero category at Real Business’ Growing Business Awards, in recognition of its "outstanding, growing business in the retail sector".

The awards, held in association with Lloyds Bank and supported by the CBI, will take place on November 25 in London. The news follows the relaunch and rebrand of the Boticca site earlier this week, as well as its plans to appoint a number of executives within its fashion and PR departments.

Boticca presently represents more than 300 designers and offers over 10,000 pieces from over 40 countries around the world to a customer database of more than 700,000 users.

It is venture-backed by London-based MMC Ventures, Paris-based entrepreneur fund ISAI, and prominent angel investors such as John Ayton and Annoushka Ducas, founders of Links of London.

It won $4 million in a second round of investment in 2013, which has been used to help it enter new markets, including the launch of Boticca.fr.

Boticca is joined by co-finalist Watchfinder in the Retail Hero category. The pre-owned watch specialist run a growing website and an boutique in the Royal Exchange. The business recently won $10m investment from growth equity firms Piton Capital and Beringea.

This year marks the 16th Growing Business Awards, with a record number of entries submitted for the 2014 awards.

Tim Hinton, managing director of SME & Mid Markets at Lloyds Bank, commented: “The number and quality of entrants this year is truly extraordinary. Not only have we seen a record number of nominations but perhaps the strongest all-round set of nominations yet.

“These businesses represent the best of British. Every one of these companies and entrepreneurs has shown that they have the tenacity and drive to innovate, grow and contribute to the country’s ongoing economic recovery.

“As we have seen, previous winners of these awards typically go on to achieve great things. I look forward to watching the development of this year’s nominees closely and hope they inspire other businesses to fulfil their potential.”

The winners of the Growing Business Awards will be announced at a ceremony at the London Marriott Grosvenor Square on November 25.
