Branded jewels create record 2014 for Coe & Co

Footfall reaches zenith while turnover up year on year.

Scunthorpe jewellery retailer Coe & Co has reported it achieved its highest ever footfall in 2014 as well as a significant year-on-year increase in turnover.

In an interview with the Scunthorpe Telegraph, Coe & Coe owner Tony Coe said that business had boomed as the brand had embraced fashion-led jewellery brands, with Pandora becoming a major success story for the retailer.

In 2014 Coe & Co introduced a raft of new brands including Shaun Leane, ChloBo, Michael Kors and Vivienne Westwood. As well as collections of fine jewellery, the store now boasts 50 jewellery brands.

Coe told the local newspaper: "Our bench-trained staff are continually busy with repairs and the creation of bespoke fine jewellery and I think our customers feel reassured by our knowledge, born from initially being traditional working jewellers as well as being retailers.

"It’s easy to rest on your laurels. However, I now travel most weeks all over the country sourcing new products, exploring new opportunities and ensuring that I am investing in what my customers want. You have to change with the times.”
