G C Hardwick & Sons praises cops for thwarting £30k burglary.
A jeweller in Burton-on-Trent has publically praised the police force that thwarted a robbery at her shop.
Helen Rakic, a partner at G C Hardwick & Sons, contacted the town’s local newspaper The Burton Mail to announce her gratitude to local police, who she called “amazing”.
The alarm at G C Hardwick & Sons had been raised on December 19 and police arrived at the scene to discover that two men had broken into the shop with a crow bar. The duo had attempted to steal £30,000-worth of stock but the police quickly intercepted and retrieved the items and arrested the men.
Rakic told The Burton Mail: “The police did an excellent job, responded quickly and provided brilliant support. We could have done without it just before Christmas, but we are getting back on track and we’d like to thank our customers who have been very patient with us.
“We would like to thank the many lovely customers and fellow retailers for the concern and support shown after the incident. We’ve had people ringing to see if we’re ok and popping into the shop. It’s really nice to know people care.”
