Brand says it remains bullish in market following Swarovski takeover.
Charm bead brand Chamilia has cut staff at its headquarters in Minneapolis in the US in what appears to be a restructuring of roles.
In a report by JCK last week it was stated that Chamilia head office staff numbers had been reduced from about 140 down to 30 “customer-facing” positions. The news comes following the brand’s acquisition by Swarovski in the spring of 2013.
Chamilia chief executive Douglas Brown told JCK he could not provide a specific count of how many jobs had been cut but added that temps and consultants were in operation at the business.
It is understood that Chamilia has moved some of its back office roles from the Minneapolis HQ to the Swarovski North America Rhode Island headquarters, though this is thought to amount to 25 or less roles.
Brown said that Swarovski intends to use the Minnesota office as one of its midwest locations, while Chamilia remains "bullish" in the personalised and customisable jewellery arena.
