First sale includes contemporary jewels from Roberto Coin.
Christie’s will host its first ever online-only jewellery auction later this month, featuring a selection of contemporary jewellery from new and established designers.
The Summer Jewels auction comprises more than 100 lots "with price points accessible to a wide range of collectors". The pieces on offer include drop earrings, bracelets, cufflinks and pendants from designers and brands including Roberto Coin, Lily Gabriella and Marina B.
The sale will open for bidding on July 17 and will run through to July 26, accessibly only through the Christie’s website.
Christie’s jewellery department chairman, François Curiel, said: “This inaugural online-only sale of Summer Jewels is an exciting new venture for us at Christie’s. After a historic spring season of auction sales, we are pleased to offer collectors a new way to collect jewellery with Christie’s and to introduce a specially-curated array of designs by some of the young shining stars working within the jewellery world today.”
Highlights of the sale include gold and gemstone jewellery by Brazilian born designer Lily Gabriella such as a diamond pendant necklace with an estimate of $4,000 to $5,000 (£2,650 to £3,313), and designs by Keemee designer Olivia Wildenstein, who developed her eye for accessories after an internship with Oscar de la Renta, such as her diamond Bonbon ring set with garnet and diamond with an estimate of $1,000 to $1,500 (£662 to £1,060).
