Clogau is seeking to grow its international team with the appointment of new team members to help continue its overseas expansion plans.

The news comes ahead of the departure of the brand’s current head of global sales David Butler, who is set to join Pandora Travel Retail on April 1 as its new in-flight sales director, reporting directly to Pandora’s vice president of travel retail, Julian Mullins.

Clogau said it is initially seeking an agent to join its international retail team, but also hopes to welcome a more senior individual with the skills and background to fulfil Butler’s role.

The Welsh brand has achieved rapid international expansion in recent years, with the opening of two standalone boutiques in China, increased airport retail operations and the opening of its own flagship store in Cardiff at the end of 2013.

Its distribution channels were expanded in 2012 and 2013 with the additions of Dubai, Qatar, Paphos, Cyprus, Cardiff and Manchester airports, as well as distributors in China, Australia, UAE, Canada, Bulgaria, and Gibraltar.

Clogau managing director Ben Roberts said: "After four years of building the business and working with stockists and distributors across the globe, we’re now looking for an agent to take the brand to the next level."

David Butler was selected as a Business Big Shot in the Professional Jeweller Hot 100 2012. He said at the time: "The strategy was to build the brand in travel retail, which I think we have done quite well. The challenge now is to build meaningful revenue streams from international domestic markets."

He was a co-founder of HD Group, the parent company of Hot Diamonds, which grew from a gift and jewellery company that Butler set up in 1986.
