Former jewellery editor and journalist Frances Murch joins team.
The Company of Master Jewellers (CMJ) has appointed former Retail Jeweller deputy editor and freelance jewellery journalist Frances Murch as its communications and website manager.
Murch’s role has been created to improve communications for CMJ members and suppliers and to develop its new website and intranet site.
In her journalistic background, Murch has covered all aspects of the jewellery industry. She has also worked as a freelance PR consultant and journalist for a range of clients, including British Silver Week and Goldsmiths magazine.
In her new role Murch will work on the redevelopment of The CMJ website to make it a more interactive and informative tool for the group’s members.
CMJ chief executive, Willie Hamilton said: “Having invested in the technical side of our website this year, it is now at a stage where we need a full time person to manage and develop this into an essential business tool for our members and suppliers.
“As the group has grown so much over the past few years, there is so much to communicate and so many more people to communicate with – working to improve a fast, online service that tells our members what they need to know, when they need to know it, has become essential.”
Murch says that her experience and background will allow her to work more effectively for The CMJ. “I’m looking forward to joining the UK’s most progressive buying group and working with them to develop their intranet facilities and online presence,” she said. “Having worked for some years in the jewellery industry, I understand the information needs of retailers and their suppliers, and believe that the new intranet and website will help all CMJ members work together much more effectively.”
