Group builds service supplier list; plans new Service Hall at meets.

The Company of Master Jewellers (CMJ) buying group has welcomed four new retailers to the fold this month, and plans to add a new Services Hall to its next trade event in August.
The new retail members, In the Pink from Grimsby and Cleethorpes, Davies Jewellers of Bangor and Menai Bridge in Wales, Griffin Jewellers of Bridlington and George Knight Jewellers of East Grinstead and Haywards Heath, represent seven shops between them.
Talking about joining the buying group, Paul Moss of George Knight Jewellers said: “We were encouraged to join CMJ by Alan Higgs of TH Baker and after some consideration realised it would be beneficial to us an independent company to be part of an established buying group and could present opportunities for us. We were particularly keen to be able to attend the CMJ trade events bringing together a more focused group of suppliers with which we have something in common.”
In the Pink’s general manager Katie Webb Jones also felt her business would benefit from the CMJ events and training. She added: "Speaking to colleagues in the business is essential to keep up to date about what is happening in the industry so that in turn our business remains current and fresh. Over the next few years we hope to establish ourselves as niche jewellers, offering on site jewellery repairs and engraving, and also offering our customers something a bit different to the high street chains."
The buying group’s service supplier list has also grown this year with the addition of the Magpie ticketing company and The Jewellery Display Company. They will join existing services suppliers Pursuit, Bransom, Clarity & Success and Access Merchant Services at the next CMJ trade event, which takes place at the Birmingham Hilton Metropole from August 4 to 5. The CMJ plans to launch a new Services Hall at the show, where its service suppliers will be granted their own space to meet retail members.
CMJ trade event organiser Lucy Hill said: “Exhibition space for the next CMJ trade event sold out in record time. The show will include a dedicated area to watch brands as well as the new services hall and the main jewellery halls will include CMJ’s key suppliers, including Pandora.”
