COLLECTIONS OF THE YEAR: Yoko London on winning Pearl Jewellery 2014


In the lead up to Collections of the Year 2015, Professional Jeweller have caught up with some of last year’s winners to see how the achievement impacted them.

Next up, PR and Marketing Manager for Yoko London, Isabella Daniels, shares how the brand felt winning Pearl Jewellery Collection of the Year 2014 with its Vigento range, which has since been renamed Radiant Orchid.

How did it make you feel winning Pearl Jewellery Collections of the Year last year?

We were absolutely delighted. A huge amount of passion, expertise and dedication goes into each and every one of our collections and it is a great honour to have one of them recognised in this way.

Why do you think the Yoko London Radiant Orchid range won?

The collection uses rare Freshwater pearls in an intense natural colour called ‘Radiant Orchid’. The pearls are of a very high quality and lustre. Many of our clients are looking for something that nobody else has, and this collection provides that. With such a spectacular array of raw materials to work with we wanted to keep the designs in the collection simple using white gold and diamonds to offset the rich colour of the pearls.

What does it take to make an award-winning pearl collection?

It will always be a variety of factors but first and foremost the collection must offer something truly original. Whether it is the rarity of the raw materials or exceptional design, it must surprise and inspire people.

What range are you most proud of this year and hope to see win?

Our Blue Rose collection. We are always coming up with ways to innovate with pearls – and for this collection we used an unusual and alluring combination of 18ct rose gold with natural colour blue Tahitian pearls and diamonds. The colours are not seen together often in pearl jewellery but we found the rose gold beautifully enhanced the colour of the pearls.

How have you developed your jewellery collections in 2015?

The brand is constantly evolving and we are bubbling over with new ideas. We’ve launched three new collections this year. The first was Pendulum – our range of delicate and modern earrings which thread through the ear. Novus – our collection of very contemporary pearl designs including ear cuffs and two finger rings. And Blue Rose.

How would you sum up 2015 for Yoko London?

2015 has been a wonderful year for us. We started off 2015 as Official Jewellery Partner of the BAFTA Film Awards – we were honoured to have many celebrities choosing to wear our pieces for the awards and surrounding parties. It really set the tone for a strong year. We’ve partnered with fantastic new stockists both in the UK and internationally, and plan to continue the roll out of the Yoko London brand in the UK and across the globe in 2016.
