Domino sales administrator Manoj Parmer won an in-house competition for staff to design the jewellery piece which became the first to gain a WB Goup hallmark on the launch of its new Sub-Assay Office.

The winning platinum and diamond pendant, along with items from the three runners up, will be kept in The WB Group’s archive to commemorate the opening.

Domino sales director Andrew Sollitt said: “We wanted all our staff to be involved in this exciting new initiative so we threw a competition open to the entire workforce asking them to come up with a commemorative piece, and were absolutely delighted with the results:”

The competition brief was to design an item of jewellery to commemorate the opening of the new Sub-Assay Office whilst reflecting the growth of The WB Group and on-going development.

The Domino sales administrator based his design on the iconic anchor, hallmark of the Birmingham Assay Office, which will staff and operate the Sub-Office from the Group’s premises in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter. A diamond set ribbon wrapped around the anchor represents the close and on-going relationship with The WB Group.

Parmer studied at the School of Jewellery in Birmingham and has an HND in Jewellery and Silversmithing. He said: “I was stunned and really delighted to win. I love design and hope to be able to do more. I guess you could say I’m a frustrated designer.”
