Walpole scheme helps emerging designers to develop business skills.

The Crafted mentorship programme, founded by Walpole in 2009, is set to return for a third year running, with new applications open from July 4.

The programme enables emerging craft and design businesses to develop their business skills while connecting luxury organisations such as Mulberry with a new generation of skilled craftsmen.

Applications for the 2011/12 scheme will open this coming Monday, July 4, closing on July 29. The initial selection process and final judging will take place over August and the early part of September before the participants are announced in October.

Crafted is today exhibiting the work of all ten of the programme’s 2010-11 participants at The Walpole British Luxury Press Day at London’s Somerset House.

Alongside the exquisitely hand crafted silverware, ceramics, textiles and millinery of the craftsmen on the programme, one of this year’s most celebrated participants, Jacqueline Cullen, will be previewing her new Luxe range, incorporating black and champagne diamonds in her Whitby jet jewellery.
