Former manager Pauline Yearley wins price for customer service.
Drakes in Plymouth has reported success at the recent Herald Business Awards in which two of its leading female staff members were shortlisted.
As reported last month, Drakes’ ambassador Pauline Yearley, – the retailer’s first ever female store manager and long-time employee – and Drakes director Monique Hirshman were in the running for awards.
Yearley scooped the award for Customer Care and Service. She retired from the business in early April after more than 36 years working with the jewellery retailers. She had joined the company as a teen and was its first female store manager.
Monique Hirshman said: “Pauline had a natural ability to relate to customers; she is personable, informative and always put the customers’ needs and experience at the forefront of all that she did.
"Perhaps what is most impressive is that many of her customers became good friends. What a fitting tribute to a glittering career; we’re absolutely delighted.”
Yearley said she was over the moon and on cloud nine following her win.
Hirshman was nominated for the Entrepreneur of the Year, and said it was a huge accolade to be shortlisted.
Her brother and fellow company director Andrew Hirshman said: “Monique has incredible passion and works tirelessly to move our business forward; to see her recognised for this is fantastic.
"It’s a really exciting time for our company as we continue to grow and flourish, all of which is not possible without the team we are so very lucky to have.”
