Drakes director to represent GB at Jewish Olympics

Andrew Hirshman to compete in tennis at Maccabiah Games in Israel.

Drakes director Andrew Hirshman is set to represent Great Britain in the Maccabiah Games next month, showing off his tennis skills against players from around the world.

Hirshman will take part in the Israel games’ tennis tournament, representing the 40 to 45 years age group in the Masters category.

He will face opponents from all over the world as he takes to the court on July 18. Hirshman said of the upcoming games: “It’s an honour and a privilege to be taking part. Over the past few months I have been putting in lots of practice; it will be interesting to see how I cope in the high temperatures that await me. I am delighted that my family will all be there to support me and I hope to make them proud."

The Maccabiah Games is the world’s largest Jewish athletic competition and are often referred to as ‘The Jewish Olympics’. It takes place every four years with more than 10,000 Jewish athletes from all over the world meeting in Israel to take part.
