In contrast, the diamond and bridal lounge allows customers to choose jewellery in a more relaxed environment with an array of diamond and gemstones collections to include: Annamaria Cammilli, Fei Liu and Drakes Diamond Designs.

To celebrate the opening, Drakes welcomed family, friends, customers and press to a VIP launch event, with second-generation managing director, John Hirshman, cutting the ribbon.

Drakes director Monique Hirshman, who is part of the business’ third generation, commented: “This is the next part of the journey. We have had an amazing few weeks and the team have been unbelievable – it’s not just Andrew and I, it is the whole team – there are so many people to thank.”

The Drakes team worked with local suppliers, including architectural team Andrea Galley and Dan Atkins of Crayon Architecture & Design, SWS Shop fitters and Mykreative Design, to bring their vision to life.

John Hirshman added: “One thing hasn’t changed and that is we are still a family business, the old fashioned type of company that we always maintained we would be. It must be working because we are in our 67th year of trading and hopefully we will go on for a long, long time”.
