Earrings of the Catwalk winners revealed at J&WB

The BJA’s design competition rewards Francesca Marcenaro and Kattri.

Jewellery designer Francesca Marcenaro and jewellery brand Kattri have been named the winners of the British Jewellers’ Associations’ Earrings of the Catwalk competition at Jewellery & Watch Birmingham.

Francesca Marcenaro won in the ‘fashionably precious’ category of the competition with her Burned Forest earrings in black oxidised silver, marcasite, pearls and glass. The fairytale-inspired earrings climb up the ear, but only require a single piercing to stay in place thanks to the clever design.

The precious category of the competition was won by Professional Jeweller Hot 100 2014 NexGem Amanda Gerbasi and her brand Kattri. The 18ct yellow gold Large Tetrahedrom earrings feature rutilated quartz suspended in a geometric frame with a 0.40ct diamond.

The winners were chosen by a judging panel including acting head of Birmingham’s School of Jewellery, Gaynor Andrews, and members of the BJA and i2i events team.

Portfolio director for fashion and jewellery at i2i Events Group, Julie Driscoll, commented: “They both have great stories behind them which is lovely for the consumer and great for the retailer as well – particularly fitting winners as this year’s show takes ‘Origins’ as it theme and our marketing team have been concentrating on the inspiration behind the brands taking part.”

Both winners will receive £1,000 off the cost of a stand at J&WB 2016 as well as a variety of marketing and promotional perks from the BJA.
