Three jewellers chosen for innovation in design.

Three jewellers from the Design Gallery have been recognised in the Editor’s Choice award for their works’ originality.

Abigail Stradling, who was judged the winner of the ‘Originality and Inspirational Craftsmanship’ category, was chosen for her highly personal Time Ring.

The between-the-finger ring is fashioned from oil-filled resin and filled with natural materials like sand and wood that move with the wearer. “I intended the ring to be like a physical keepsake that can be individualised,” she said.

Highly commended in the category were Gina Melosi for her recycled silver ‘shattered’ cuff and Daniel Vior for his enamelled Alula Imbricata necklace.

Editor’s Choice is a major feature of the show, in which jewellery journalist Claire Adler highlights designers and brands whose work is setting consumer and fashion trends. Other categories include Visual Impact, won by Andrew Geoghegan, back at IJl after a five year absence, and Technical Excellence, won by Jian of London.
