Eros Jewellers to close as owner retires

Ivor Rosenburg to close Hertfordshire shop after nearly 50 years.

Eros Jewellers in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire is set to close as owner Ivor Rosenberg plans to retire from the business.

The shop has been trading in the town for the past 49 years and has been described as an important part of the local community.

Rosenberg, who was originally from Hackney in east London, opened the store in 1961 with his late wife Joan Rosenburg. To save enough money to open the shop Rosenburg had been running a watch repair business from his bedroom.

Rosenburg told local paper the Borehamwood & Elstree Times: “All my customers are friends and that’s what makes me very sad to go. It’s been an honour to serve them.”

The jeweller said that he intends to enjoy his retirement by spending more time with his two daughters and indulging his passion of playing saxophone.
