Erwin Sattler creates miniature clocks for wrists

Master clock maker shrinks down wall timepieces into stylish watches.

Master clock maker Erwin Sattler is continuing to celebrate 50 years of clock with the release of the Regulateur Classica Secunda, an automatic wristwatch that is an exact miniature replica of one of its most successful wall clocks.

The solid sterling silver watch will be on display at the company’s BaselWorld stand, where visitors can examine the engineering and craftsmanship that the company describes as every bit as fine as found in Swiss mechanical watches.

The dial is made up of a large central minute hand, with the seconds at 12 o’clock and the hours at 6 o’clock – exactly the same display as the Classica Secunda 1985 wall clock.

The Regulateur Classica Secunda was created in cooperation with watchmakers Maria and Richard Habring, with clockmakers at Erwin Sattler using the automatic movement in a stainless steel case consisting of both polished and matt components.

Scratchproof sapphire crystals front and back showcase the clean dial and allow the watch enthusiast to ponder the inner workings of the watch.
