The Jewellers Box Company reports good trading at IJL.

The Jewellers Box Company has enjoyed a good show at IJL this year with a number retailers placing orders for its bespoke leather jewellery boxes that are handmade under fair trade conditions in Bangladesh.

Owner Claire Welder said that requests from retailers have been particularly varied this year, perhaps as the indepent sector seeks to differentiate its offer from its competitors. However, she did add that there has been high interest in burgandy- and turquoise-coloured boxes and also for a large design that she has created to hold and display cufflinks.

The Jewellers Box Company has a wide range of packaging and storage solutions for retailers, with prices starting at just £6.

Welder became involved in the production of fair trade jewellery boxes, as well as a range of gift items that she offers such as iPad covers, after working with a charity in Bangladesh. “It was not a very commercial charity and I realised that just giving money doesn’t help, you have to teach them hot to make money,” she said.
