Facebook campaigns drive nominations for Hot 100

Facebook and Twitter fans of jewellers vote for Hot 100 in droves.

The power of marketing via social networking web sites has been in evidence again during the nomination process for the Professional Jeweller Hot 100.

Hundreds of nominations have been pouring in every day via the Hot 100 page of Professionaljeweller.com, with significant surges of votes for certain designers and retailers standing out from the crowd as social networking campaigns have been unleashed.

“We have seen this before with previous competitions and nomination drives on the web site. Web-savvy jewellers and jewellery designers encourage their friends and customers to vote for them on their Facebook, Twitter or Myspace pages,” remarked Rachel Taylor, editor of Professional Jeweller.

“And, I have to say, it is successful in catching our attention as we are composing the Hot 100 list. It is hard to ignore a business that has mobilised the support of hundreds of fans. We think there is likely to be a direct link between people that utilise and understand the power of the web and social networking, and those that will be tomorrow’s most successful jewellery retailers and designers,” added Taylor.

Nominations for the Professional Jeweller Hot 100 end this weekend and the process of composing the final list will take place in the following week.

The full Professional Jeweller Hot 100 list will be revealed at a glittering industry party on September 7th, the third night of International Jewellery London. The Company of Master Jewellers is the Principal Partner for the Hot 100.
