Gold sales slow but statement jewels thrive at online retailer.
Statement jewellery is “flying off the shelves” at TV and online jewellery retailer Coloured Rocks.
Coloured Rocks chief executive Steve Bennett said that while sales of gold jewellery have slowed in the run up to Christmas, fashion jewellery has been achieving phenomenal sales.
Bennett said that Coloured Rocks had sold 107,000 pieces of fashion jewellery in September.
He added: “We are seeing a slower take up on gold pieces this Christmas, however silver jewellery, especially big-look fashion pieces, is literally flying off the shelf.”
The Colourful Company Group, which owns Coloured Rocks, also includes online and TV retail businesses Rocks TV, Jewellery Maker and Gems TV.
The Colourful Company Group bought Gems TV in June, which had been struggling in the UK market. A statement from the group at the time said: “As one of the original founders of Gems TV, Steve strongly believes that consolidating his jewellery businesses will give him better buying power and therefore even more benefits for the customer.”
