Fine jewellery collection inspired by visit to Forbidden City in China

Fine jewellery designer Fei Liu is showcasing a striking new platinum collection called Window of the Heart at IJL, following an invitation to design in platinum from the Platinum Guild International.

The new range was created after Liu took a trip to the Forbidden City in Beijing. Taking his inspiration from the four-pointed shape of the windows in palaces, Liu was struck by how the passing generations who have frequented the buildings have changed. He believes the windows, much like windows to the soul, show both what is happening outside while giving a glimpse inside, and likens this to the souls of women.

Liu believes that this idea, teamed with the purity of platinum, makes the collection a celebration of women. Set with diamonds, the Window of the Soul collection includes rings, pendants and striking drop earrings, which have an evident Eastern influence from the drop-chain tassles.

International Jewellery London has always been an important show to Liu. The designer collected an IJL Editor’s Choice Award back in 2009 and last year, he was listed as a Trendsetter in the Professional Jeweller Hot 100, which launched at the exhibition.
