Pater Marsh to focus on the future of manufacturing in the UK.
Peter Marsh, manufacturing editor of The Financial Times has been announced as keynote speaker at the British Jewellery Giftware & Finishing Federation (BJGF) AGM due to takle place in June.
Marsh will be focusing on ‘The future of UK manufacturing‘, and will consider UK manufacturing in relation to the world, explaining how the changes of the past few years might be making Britain a good place for manufacturing in the 21st century.
As the Financial Times’s manufacturing editor, Marsh is used to reporting on developments in industries relating to manufacturing. Marsh is also a previous winner of the Business Journalist of the Year Awards, in the manufacturing category.
President of the BJGF David Metcalfe said: "We are delighted to welcome Peter Marsh as our guest speaker. As manufacturing editor of such a prestigious title as the Financial Times, he’ll be able to help shine significant light on the current position of manufacturing in the UK and going forward, the prospects of manufacturing in the UK and what it means for the members of the federation."
The AGM will also see three of the largest federated associations – the Gift Assocation, British Jewellers Association and the Surface Engineering Association – provide insight into the progress and achievements of each sector over past 12 months during a challenging economic landscape.
They will demonstrate how they have met these economic challenges, highlight key political progress and outline the achievements in each of the industries. Outgoing president Metcalfe said: "The past year has undoubtedly been a challenging one and the federation has responded positively to those challenges. We encourage as many members as possible to attend because not only do we have a great guest speaker but also the AGM is a once-in-the-year opportunity for members and non members to connect and network with the core industries represented by the federation.”
