First Faberge egg pendant in nearly a century

Legendary house hatches new egg and launches fine jewellery range.

Fabergé has created its first new Fabergé egg high jewellery creation in nearly a century.

This necklace pays homage to legendary Imperial Eggs created by Peter Carl Fabergé for the Romanov family. The last time the famous jewellery house created a high jewellery piece with an egg was in 1917.

The collection of one-of-a-kind egg pendants is called Les Fameux de Fabergé. The first creations from this collection, launched as a part of Les Saisons Russes high jewellery collection at Paris Couture Week this month.

The new hatchlings shown in Paris are the first of a series of 12 one-off couture egg pendants. Each of the pendants is inspired by an old Russian proverb that is brought to life by the finest craftsmanship in the world today. The Train des Fleurs Egg pictures takes inspiration from a proverb that reads “He that travels knows much”, which refers to a train that brought flowers from the South of France to St Petersburg during the winter party season.

Fabergé is also launching Les Frissons de Fabergé, a collection of fine jewellery egg pendants. there are about 60 pendants in the range. An advertising campaign for the collection has been shot by a “dream team” comprising Mario Testino, Carine Roitfeld and Katharina Flohr.
