National retailer F. Hinds is the first jeweller in the UK to be bestowed the World Diamond Mark by international diamond governing body the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB).

This mark is a sign that as a diamond dealer, F. Hind meets the highest standards of expertise, ethics and professionalism .

Alongside the company’s certification by the Responsible Jewellery Council, the World Diamond Mark helps F. Hinds to reinforce customer confidence in rare, natural diamonds. This includes only using certificates from accurate, stringent laboratories, high quality training for store staff, plus the knowledge that gemologist and sixth generation family member Andrew Hinds personally hand-selects all the diamonds for the company’s certificated solitaires.  F. Hinds was also the first UK sponsor of the Diamond Development Initiative which supports artisanal workers in developing countries.

“This is great news,” shares F. Hinds diamond buyer, Andrew Hinds. He continues: “It provides huge reassurance for UK consumers that there is a jeweller they can patronise who will provide guaranteed natural diamonds and a professional service.”

The World Diamond Mark was created by the WFDB to rekindle the consumers’ enthusiasm for diamonds and diamond jewellery, and consequently, boost demand for natural diamonds throughout the diamond supply pipeline.

World Diamond Mark chairman Alex Popov comments: “The WDM could not have found a better retailer to become the first accredited WDM authorised diamond dealer in the UK.  F. Hinds’ reputation is immaculate, and we are honoured to have the firm, with all of its 118 branches, on board with us.”

Andrew Hinds is the most recent past-Chairman of the UK’s National Association of Jewellers (NAJ) and, as a qualified gemologist, is responsible for individually selecting each and every certificated diamond stocked in the company’s 118 stores across the UK and on their direct sales website which celebrates its twentieth anniversary this year.

Hinds adds: “Members of the Hinds family have been diamond experts for over 150 years, and as F. Hinds has grown over the years, we have been able to increase our buying power so that we can source our diamonds direct.  My father Roy Hinds was one of the first UK jewellers to travel direct to the diamond markets over 60 years ago and he passed on the savings to our customers.  As a result we have been honoured to be trusted by generations of the British public to provide one of the most precious and important items they will ever own.  The endorsement of the WDM shows that we are also trusted by the industry’s experts.  It recognises that we are one of the world’s leading diamond jewellers and we are delighted and honoured to have been one of the first in the world to be accredited and the very first in the UK.”

The full WDM authorisation certificates will appear in all 118 stores and online, alongside interesting and informative background information on F. Hinds’ diamond jewellery, available to all its customers.
