US watch giant to develop men’s and women’s lines for SS13.
Fossil watches has announced a partnership with Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld to design, develop and distribute a line of timepieces under the Karl Lagerfeld name.
The company will create men’s and women’s watches, and says it is excited about the collaboration with one of fashion’s most iconic men.
Mark Quick, vice chairman of Fossil said: “We look forward to working with Karl Lagerfeld. It is a pleasure to work with such an inspiring fashion visionary.”
The first timepiece collection is due for launch in the first few months of 2012, and will bear the Karl Lagerfeld name. As of yet, there is no information regarding the style of the watches, or the design themes.
Pier Paolo Righi, president of the Karl Lagerfeld brand suggested that Fossil was the first choice for the company. “It is essential for us to work with the best license partners in each segment – that is why we are happy to partner up with Fossil.”
To date, the Karl Lagerfeld brand has produced several different product lines including ready to wear accessories under the Karl label, fashion under Karl Largerfeld Paris as well as sunglasses and a perfume line. He has recently designed a range with Hogan shoes.
Fossil, though known for its watches, also produces handbags, small leather goods, belts, sunglasses, soft accessories, shoes, and clothing, sold in more than 120 countries worldwide.
