FreyWille honoured with Loot Award 2014

Austrian company presented with coveted jewellery award in New York.

Dr. Friedrich Wille and Simone Grunberger-Wille of Austrian jewellery company FreyWille were honoured with the 2014 LOOT Award for Contemporary Art Jewellery, during the annual LOOT: MAD About Jewelry exhibit in New York last week.

The pair were presented with the coveted award at the Museum of Arts and Designs’ (MAD) during its annual exhibition and sale featuring a cross-section of designs from emerging and acclaimed international artists on October 6 to 10 2014.

Now in its 14th edition, LOOT: MAD About Jewelry is a platform for new trends and innovations in studio and art jewellery design across the globe, as well as providing a pop-up shop for designer-makers to sell directly to jewellery enthusiasts.

Each year the LOOT Award is presented to one company that has best displayed the spirit of presenting jewellery as an art form.

This year, FreyWillie chief executive officer Dr. Friedrich Wille, and his wife and FreyWille creative director Simone Grunberger-Wille, were handed the award having developed the 63-year-old company, which continues to handcraft its pieces in Vienna.

FreyWille was specifically praised for its limited-edition collections based on selected artists’ signature works, including Gustav Klimt, Alphonse Mucha, and Friedensreich Hundertwasser.
