Danish design brand Georg Jesen has announced the appointment of Eva-Lotta Sjöstedt as its new chief executive officer.
Sjöstedt is a business leader with extensive experience of managing global retail companies. With a degree in fashion design, she has spent over a decade working in international markets, including Japan, Hong Kong, Germany, Sweden and The Netherlands. Having held a number of managerial and board-level roles with global brands, Sjöstedt has a proven track record of facilitating competitive growth and establishing superior market positions through effective store operations and developing and implementing omni-channel strategies to market.
Following Sjöstedt appointment, current chief executive officer David Chu will become chairman alongside his existing role of chief creative director.
Chu comments: “After three exciting years steering the business to its current position, the time is right to hand over to Sjöstedt. Design has always been my passion and whilst I have very much enjoyed my time as CEO, I am excited that, with Sjöstedt’s arrival, I am now able to focus my attention on my role as chief creative director.
“Great prospects lie ahead for Georg Jensen as we continue to grow the business in the luxury and lifestyle sector whilst maintaining the principles of creativity and design that lie at the heart of our company.”
Sjöstedt adds: “Georg Jensen is a global brand with a great Scandinavian heritage based on core values of Danish design, authenticity and craftsmanship. It occupies a leading position in the luxury and lifestyle market and I am delighted to have the opportunity to lead the company at this exciting time. I am very much looking forward to working closely with David and the wider Georg Jensen team.”
