Jewellers and designers given more time to apply after Christmas.
Spaces at the Goldsmiths’ Company’s Pavilion at Somerset House during London Jewellery Week are already said to be filling fast, however the Goldsmiths’ Co. has extended its deadline for applications until early January to allow more designers to apply after the busy Christmas period.
The Pavilion will be hosted a Somerset House in London between June 13 and 17 2012, during London Jewellery Week.
Paul Dyson, director of promotions at the Goldsmiths’ Company said of the extention: “This time of year can be terribly busy for jewellers as they fulfil final orders for their handmade treasures.
“We want to extend the deadline to ensure jewellers don’t have to choose between their clients and another fantastic selling opportunity. We cannot guarantee consideration of applications that come in after January 7, 2012.”
The Pavilion is a contemporary jewellery summer selling exhibition that promises “some of the most exciting independent designer-makers in the UK”. Last year’s Pavilion exhibitors included Ornella Iannuzzi, Ros Millar and Polly Gasston and this year hopes to attract a similar array of jewellery designers.
“The Goldsmiths’ Company is constantly striving to find new and exciting opportunities to showcase the remarkable talents of contemporary British jewellers and we are delighted to be taking the Goldsmiths’ Company Pavilion to Somerset House,” added Dyson.
“The newly refurbished East Wing of this spectacular neo-classical building, one of London’s architectural gems, is the perfect venue for a dazzling show of spectacular design-focused jewellery.”
The Goldsmiths’ Company says it is casting “a wide net” to find a fresh and fabulous array of designer-makers who specialise in statement jewellery.
The final line up of exhibitors will include a number of jewellers who have never before exhibited at a Goldsmiths’ Company event and even emerging young jewellers showing their debut collections.
Those wishing to participate are being encouraged to apply in the coming weeks before January 7. All applications will be vetted and accredited by the Goldsmiths’ Company.
The Pavilion is said to appeal to avid collectors from around the world, luxury fashion shoppers, art enthusiasts, jewellery obsessives and high-end design aficionados. In its new position at Somerset House is also due to attract tourists in London.
