The Goldsmiths’ Company is set to host a special exhibition of jewellery and silversmithing designers called Growing Talent, focused on designers that have worked with the Goldsmiths Company over the past 10 years.

The spring exhibition will open on March 11, showcasing the years of development since the designers first exhibited as design graduates at The Goldsmiths Fair

Jewellers involved include Tomasz Donocik, Rachel Galley, Ruth Tomlinson, Ros Millar, David McCaul, Zoe Arnold, Ornella Ianuzzi and Milena Kovanovich.

The exhibition has been curated by writer and applied arts consultant Mary La Trobe-Bateman based on the theme of “something old and something new”.

She said: “It is fascinating to see how all these young craftspeople are developing. And what is even more encouraging is the fact they are constantly honing their skills, pushing the boundaries and continuing to thrive in what is a challenging climate. Many of them are now established and their work is sought after by collectors worldwide.”

La Trobe-Bateman asked each of the designers involved not only about their studies and background, but about their favourite musicians, books and films to help bring their personalities to the fore for the exhibition.

The showcase will take place from March 11 to April 13 at the Goldsmiths’ Hall in London, with free admission.
